Our Beige House

At first glance, it appears that we have a big beige house that is the same color as the neighbor's, however, this is just the first siding step, which will remain unpainted. We're showing the house from this angle as these are the only 2 sides of the house that are done at this point. However, we expect the siding to be completed in the next few days.

The other exciting news is that the electrical work has started in the interior of the house at the same time. A number of outlets and switches have been installed along with the structured, and speaker wiring that we put in the master, loft and living areas. You can see in the picture to the right that there are a number of wires that terminate at the circuit box that are not yet hooked up. It does look a bit messy right now though...

Inside the house, there are some canned lights that have been recently installed. its neat to see where the lighting will be placed along with the location of some of the speakers take shape. In the picture to the left you can see the zig-zag patterns of the wires in the wall which are actually the speaker wires. Presumably they are installed this way so that they have sufficient slack so they can be fed through the drywall after it is installed later. We have our official "walk-through" on Monday morning, so we'll be excited to see the rest of the interior work be completed including the HVAC system (which has been partially installed) before the drywall goes in.

Thats all for today's update, hope to have one for next week again unless something significant happens before then.

Windows

We stopped by today to look at the new windows. Hopefully they will finish installing them tomorrow as the "high voltage" electrical work is set to start then. The siding should start going on the house soon as well, as you can see it has started on the house next to ours already.

Nothing much else to report as this point...

It's Been a While

So, it's been a while since our last update. Because we've been busy getting our current townhouse ready to sell, with birthday's and Father's Day happening, we havent had a chance to update the site recently.

Since our last update a lot has been added to the house. The roof is now on, and the shingles have been laid. The plumbing and major plumbing fixtures are also in or partially in, and we're supposed to see the electrical work going in next week. Here are some pictures of the plumbing progress thats been made. You can see the series of flexible red and white tubing that is used for hot and cold water supply lines and the black drainage lines. Oh, and it turns out the water has been turned on which "surprised" me a bit:

We were also surprised to find that the fireplace had been installed when we visited this evening. We were initially torn about the placement of the fireplace in the corner at a diagonal, but think that it'll be nice when paired with the tv above it as it is very viewable from the kitchen.

Here's a better view of the exterior of the house, which you can see from a different angle. We were excitd to see that the windows had been delivered and were sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. Hopefully, we will see the windows in by the end of this week.

Thats all for now, hopefully we will have windows and electrical in by our next update.

2nd Floor Framing

The framing for the second floor has been added recently. We were able to walk through the house this evening, which helped us visualize the space much better. At this point the walls are more or less done and the roof trusses are in. They plywood for the roof has not been completely installed, but it appears that this should be done in the next few days. Here's a view from the front of the house:
Here's Brian in the upstairs of the house... You can see the partial roof better from this angle which really adds a lot of natural light as it turns out :)
Finally, is a shot of the master bedroom. You can see the trusses are modified here to allow for the vaulted ceiling. And no that is not a skylight, but merely a spot that they has not been covered with the plywood yet:

Thats all for now. Hopefully we will have another update when the roof and windows are in...
